Aloha! Saturday Night’s Birthday Party was for Karen’s 60th Birthday out at the Alliance Hotel in Spring Hills. Karen got in touch with me after reading about Nicole’s 70’s Disco Birthday. She really liked the style of what Nicole had done, and what I had wrote about – and decided to get in touch with me about booking me for her Birthday. Now when Karen said she was going to have a Hawaiian Theme…. she wasn’t kidding.

When I arrived at 6pm, there was this “A-Team” of crew that came in and completely transformed the venue into Hawaiian theme attire. It was like something off Renovation Rescue or The Block. There were decorations everywhere which really added to the theme of the night. Then everyone started arriving in their Hawaiian clothes and outfits – and it looked really great.

Karen also wanted for her Hawaiian Theme – Hawaii music. She gave me a few songs to play at the start that she really wanted – Steel Drums, Ukulele Music, Beach Music, etc. So we played that at the start and that was really relaxing. Then about an hour or so after we had some more up beat 70’s/Beach music and 80’s just to add to the theme a bit more. Later on in the evening, we had some speeches around 9:30-9:45pm to celebrate and some quick formalities and then it was time for some games.

Throughout the night earlier I had gone through and got everyone to vote for the Best Dressed Prizes. In First Place was Allen in the Skirt/Dress that he had on – his prize was a Pineapple. And in Second Place – Ken won the Coconut …. bit of fun. Then I did a few games with them with some Hoola Hoops and a Air Guitar (Ukulele) contest to get the crowd involved a little bit. Then it was straight into dancing. We had so much dancing throughout the night – all sorts of different music – old, and new…. But everyone kept dancing – we actually ended up extending our services through to midnight!

It was an amazing night for Karen – she really had fun with her Hawaiian Theme disco, and said she got alot of people the next day calling to say they had so much fun.

The only downside of the night?

Carrying my gear up 3 flights of stairs, and then down 3 flights of stairs 🙁
