I love a Country Wedding. There is something about a Country Weddings that I have always loved doing. I dont do them often – but for Nathan & Hannah’s wedding, there was alot of planning involved.

I didn’t actually meet Nathan & Hannah, until their wedding day. They lived about 2-3 hours out from Chinchilla, so they didn’t have reception. It was Hannah’s mum – Sheryl who initially called me looking for a DJ out in Chinchilla and if I serviced that region. After talking to her more about it – I mentioned about how I work better as their DJ & MC as I bring alot more entertainment on the night other than just playing music. Then after they decided to book I had a call from Hannah’s sister, Lauren who was concerned over the style of the music and wanted to make sure it was very “country”….

So she sent me through some Country Songs, and I went off and spent about $50-75 on some Country Music matching Lauren’s requirements. A few weeks later, Lauren & Sheryl drove down from Blackbutt (4 hours) to my office and we sat down and went through the planning process on behalf of Hannah & Nathan.

Unfortunately a week before their country wedding was scheduled the Hall they had booked had been damaged by a storm and was deeemed unsafe – so we had to move it to the RSL. The next week – last Saturday morning, I left and got to Chinchilla about 12pm, and after a few hours rest I headed out to the venue.

It was such a lovely venue and setup. Everyone had gone to alot of effort and for 1 week before Nathan & Hannah could have their country wedding – the RSL did a great job of putting it altogether last minute.

I also arranged to call Hannahs grandparents who couldn’t be there -and record their message on a recorder to be played at the wedding – which was really beautiful to hear and it was an amazing surprise for Hannah when she heard it.

It was a really fun night though. The highlight was seeing the Best Man play the Harmonica during his speech, and then doing some games with the Bride & Groom. We played lots of Country Songs, along with a few modern songs and old school tracks as well. I even got a few cheers at the end of the night from everyone on the dance floor.

Then, Sunday I was back on the road again to head home back to Brisbane.

This really was a fun country wedding that was toe tapping fun and I got to learn some new Country Music songs which is great for my playlist.
