Well it was Judy’s 50th Birthday party, held at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast – and DJ JAMES headed off a few hours earlier to start getting ready for the drive up, and get ready to go for all her guests – luckily he did because guests arrived nice and early, so music started right on 7:00pm.
James started off with some nice background music while guests mingled and sat down for the main course – with a variety of hits that Judy requested – keeping with her request off background music from 7 – 9pm, and then more fun music dancing from 9pm – 11pm.
Judy mostly wanted 70’s & 80’s music, but also some of the modern music as well. James played some background music such as Billy Joel, Elton John, David Bowie, Neil Diamond, Linda Ronstadt and even some Olivia Newton John!
We paused the music briefly for some speeches, with lots of Judy’s friends saying some kind words about her – and then straight after speeches was Dessert!
9:00pm it was time to get the music going, with Bee Gees – You Should be Dancing, and then more and more people came to dance, followed by some mixing in of 80’s hits, and a few rock hits.
We inevitably did the Time Warp and Nutbush (James had to even show them the dance for this one, they requested it and had forgotten it!) and even the chicken Dance were requested!
Then not long after that -finished up with Footloose, a selection by the birthday girl, which got every single person on the dance floor!
Some other songs played were, ACDC, Australian Crawl, The Sports, INXS, Midnight Oil, Boom Crash Opera “Dancing in the Storm”, Neil Diamond tracks, Michael Jackson, Queen, The Police, Madonna, Prince, Blonde, Flock of Seagulls, The Clash, Culture Club, Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
