Catherine from St John Fisher College got in touch with us back in July looking for a DJ for their School Semi Formal that was upcoming – recently a few weeks ago. After booking James in the calendar, James headed out on Thursday night to their Semi Formal held at Virginia Golf Club.

St John’s Semi Formal started off with some easy listening modern background music as kids made their way inside the function room of the venue. The atmosphere was fantastic as students began to socialise with each other, sipping on their soft drink and having a good time. Shortly after speeches were made from Teachers & Students just after dinner and then after the buffet dinner and dessert was finished, the music began! (around 8:30pm)

DJ JAMES started the Semi Formal off with One Dance by Drake. and the students were very into it! Most of them were on the floor dancing, the few that weren’t dancing were off getting photos taken!  The excitement on the dance floor continued, eventually hitting favourites such as Macarena and Nutbush, which both had many participants.

We also did something a little different, and gave a lip sync battle to the kids! They LOVED IT – and were very into it, and nominated their chosen Boy and Girl.

The Boys had Barbie Girl by Aqua,
The Girls had Yeah! by Usher.

It was a fantastic Battle, they were very into it and it was hilarious. The girls won of course, definitely a night to remember in the yearbook!
Even the teachers jumped in and had a round! The female teacher singing All About that Bass, and the male teacher doing Madonna. It was very funny and all the students had a blast!

Finished up the night with some up tempo dancing music, all the kids were dancing right until the last song. Fantastic night enjoyed by all those involved! (Even the venue staff had a great time)

We got some great feedback from St John Fisher College too.

We had a great night last night, thanks to James and the great music; he really is very good at what he does. We were pleased that he actually got the crowd going and didn’t just stand behind the decks and play songs from a list. His suggestion to do a lip sync battle was awesome!  We all had so much fun with it and I think the students were very surprised to see staff letting their hair down and having fun too. Many thanks for the experience; we will certainly be looking to book again next year.
